Our Jack-O-Lantern

Well, Jared just left today for a 2½ week TDY to Sheppard AFB in Texas, which means sadly, he is going to be missing Halloween with the kids… :( So he decided to at least carve a jack-o-lantern with them before he left – which they did last night. I just had to post the video – the kids were being so funny! So anyway, here’s our funny jack-o-lantern experience for this year… :)

Cuddling, Hat Fun, & Ring-Around-the-Rosies

Just posting these for fun… We realized Colette and I were matching in our pajamas one morning, and she was being so sweet and cuddly – just had to take a picture… :) I also found this hat the other day when going through all the kids’ clothes, and Colette was having so much fun walking around in it – she loves wearing any kind of accessory and “modeling” them for us… And her new favorite game is ring-around-the-rosies! She gets so excited whenever we play, and she’s pretty good at it too… :)

Cute Stories

Alright, some fun stories of the kids to share…

We had a birthday card sitting on the table for Grandpa Ray that we were getting ready to send, and because of that, we discovered that Colette is now capable of climbing all the way up onto our kitchen table. We found her exactly as you see, sitting up there, drawing with a pen on Grandpa’s card – she just wanted to wish him “Happy Birthday” herself! :) We always have to remember to keep the chairs pushed all the way in at the table now…

The other night after having pizza for dinner, I told the kids to come into the kitchen and get washed up before they could go play. Samuel came walking in, held up his hands for me to see, and said, “I not dirty, Mom – see.” And this is what I saw… :)

Funny guy – always making us laugh!

Well, this past Sunday was our ward’s Primary Program in Sacrament Meeting, and Brielle’s first time participating in one, of course – which she has been so excited about – and she did so good!! On our drive to church that morning, she was being so serious and dramatic, singing along with the primary songs we had playing, and she told me she was practicing because everyone was going to be looking at her singing… :) During the program, she was the first to jump up every time it was time for a song, and without fail, would look down at us each time with the hugest grin, and just wave and wave until we smiled and waved back. She was just so excited… And then it came time for her class’ turn to do their parts. As she went to take her place in line, Jared and I got a kick out of her slight hesitation passing the microphone, and the look she gave, as though she were considering the option of saying something into it. We could tell she was definitely contemplating the idea. :) But she was a good girl, and waited her turn. Now, I know I’m a biased mother here, but she did SO good on her part! :) It was only a few sentences, of course, but she had it all memorized, and didn’t forget even when she was up in front of everyone. I’ve been telling her all week to talk slowly so everyone could understand her, well she definitely said each word of her part slowly! But it was so cute because you really could understand what she was saying – her part was, “My favorite thing to do with my family is Family Home Evening. I love to learn with them, and play games & have treats together.” And that big old grin of hers – she just loves being in the spotlight… She definitely got a few chuckles out of the congregation – she was cute! Anyway, I know I just wrote way too much – way too proud a mom, I know! :) But we had so much fun watching our first child in a Primary Program!

Family Pictures

Just did our family pictures -- always quite the crazy experience with these guys, but I always just love having them afterwards, of course! :)

Brielle was looking so pretty this day we did the pictures -- I just had to take a few of her by herself. She just looks so grown up to me! I can't believe how big she's getting...

Tag Responses :)

Okay, so I guess I got tagged by Sara to follow these directions! :) –

The rules:

Go to your picture files.

Pick the 4th file, and the 4th picture in it.

Tell a little about the picture.

Well, my fourth file happened to be the file I keep all my computer screensaver pictures in – which are all randomly dispersed pictures dating back from before we were married – so it was kind of fun to get one out of there! Turned out to be a pretty cute one too! :) Problem is, there really is no story behind it besides the ever-faithful me thinking my kids are too cute not to take a picture! :) I believe this was October 2006 – so pretty much exactly two years ago – which is kind of neat. Brielle is 2 ½ and Samuel would have been 8 months old, if I’m thinking correctly… (Right before I got pregnant with Colette – so she’s almost on the way!) :) And this was in our house in Las Vegas on Nellis AFB. Always that time of year when I start putting the kids in their warmer pajamas, and I’m pretty sure without fail every year, I just think they are too adorable the first time I see them in their sleepers, and always end up taking a picture… :)

Okay, so now here’s the rest of the tag:

4 – 4 – 4 – 4

4 things I like about my husband:
His smile
How much the kids laugh when he plays with them
How concerned he always is about making sure I’m happy
EVERYTHING! :)

4 movies I can watch more than once:
Pride & Prejudice
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Home Videos (if that counts…)
Shirley Temple Movies (of course!)

4 TV Shows I watch:
PBS shows (Sesame Street, etc…) – which are pretty much the only things on if and when the T.V. is ever on… :)
Otherwise the only other thing I can think of that I might watch on T.V. would be the random lucky event that I might catch a game show on – Price is Right (which is not my favorite anymore without Bob Barker!), Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune… (We don’t have much of a selection – if we ever got cable, I think I would LOVE the game show channel, though!) :)

4 places I’ve been today:
Church
Choir practice
And of course here at home – always fun on a Sunday, spending time with Jared & the kids…
(Sorry, there are rarely days that I ever go 4 places or more)…

4 Favorite Foods:
Enchiladas
Pizza
Roast & Potatoes
Oranges & Grapefruits (which are coming into season soon – yea!)

4 places I would like to visit:
Arizona (as always – any chance to visit family!)
San Diego & Salt Lake Temples (any temple, for that matter – I would love to get to see all of them someday)…
England/Canada (two places I’ve always wanted to see)
Portugal & pretty much all of Europe (for Jared’s sake!) :)

4 things I’m looking forward to this coming year:
Trips to visit family
Christmas (always!)
Possible vacation planned for just Jared & I maybe within this next year sometime…?? (Maybe I’m just excited at the possibility – it would be our first!) :)
Getting to watch my cute munchkins change and grow every day – my favorite thing in the world… :)

Okay, well hopefully I did all that right, Sara! :) Thanks for the tag, it was kind of fun… (By the way, the family pictures I am posting next have been in the works for awhile, and I had been planning on posting them all just like you just happened to do – so sorry if it seems like I’m copying you here on this next post! We just happen to think alike, I guess)… :)

Videos of the Kids

Little videos of each of the kids just for fun... :)

Typical Day in the Life of Colette

Oh joy, the climbing stage! :) So I decided to just keep the camera handy throughout the day yesterday and take a picture whenever Colette was on top of or inside of something just to show how constantly that is where she is and what she's doing whenever I turn around... I gave up by about midday -- realizing I would be doing it all day otherwise! :)

The Things Brielle Says...

I love it when it's Brielle's turn to say the prayer these days because we never know what she's going to say... The other night she asked Heavenly Father to please bless us not to get cavities and to please bless the bugs not to bite us! (We had found both a black widow and a centipede in the house that day, killed both of course (& by the way, does anyone know if a centipede is poisonous??), but anyway, I was explaining to the kids afterwards about not touching spiders and things like that, and I'm assuming that's where the part about please not letting the bugs bite us came from in her prayer)! But I just love to hear what that mind is just constantly thinking about when it comes time for her to say prayers... :)
